Let's start with the AI, then we'll get to the really fun stuff.

The University of Helsinki together with Reaktor are offering a free online course on the Elements of AI. The course offers a certificate of completion, and is even eligible for official University of Helsinki credit units. Part 1 is already out, and Part 2 should be out in the first half of this year.

Some of the topics covered are:

  • AI Problem Solving
  • Real World AI
  • Machine Learning
  • Neural Networks

It looks like a pretty good course and it's free, so what do you have to lose?

Along the same lines is a game from Northwestern University's Knight Lab: The SQL Murder Mystery (I've always wanted to type that). The game is a fun (but not too long) introduction to basic relational databases and how to query them for answers.

The SQL Murder Mystery was inspired by The Command Line Murders. It's purpose is to familiarize users with (you guessed it) the command line.

There's been a murder in Terminal City, and TCPD needs your help.

And finally, since we are talking about SQL, here is my all-time favorite SQL joke (is that even a thing?):

For those of you that aren't regular readers of xkcd, or that haven't completed The SQL Murder Mystery yet, there is a site that explains the above comic.
